Deadlands Dragster
A downloadable game for Windows
Deadlands Dragster was made for my 'Advanced Games Technology' module in the final year of my CompSci degree. The coursework required us to make a game in C++ using an OpenGL based engine that our lecturer provided us with.
I already had good experience working in C++ as I'd already completed two modules using the language and I had experience using the Unreal engine as part of my independent studies.
Made in just under 6 weeks, I'm very proud of Deadlands Dragster. I'm most pleased with how the player car controls/moves and the AI vehicles.
I put in a lot of effort to make the motion of the vehicles look good and the control of the player car feel satisfying. This game features mesh & primitive based objects, a physics 'engine' built from scratch, special effects and four differents NPCs with AI behaviour.
How to Play
Drive your car to the finish line as fast as possible and grab as many points as possible.
Avoid obstacles: barrels are littered across the road, an enemy Racer will try and crash into you and an enemy Jeep will spawn barrels in your path.
Grab Points: Grab as many coins as you can, the green Van will spawn coins but you have to stop it from escaping by 'corraling' it to the centre of the road.
